Let’s look at the spinal cord.

Let’s observe spinal cord on one spine as shown by an animation.

The last picture of the animation is the one which one spine is seen from the head. Light pink is a bone. The yellow part surrounded by these is the spinal cord. The spinal cord floats in a liquid called the cerebrospinal fluid. A yellow line leaves from this spinal cord in right and left, and it is a nerve. These nerves are distributed over the hands and feet etc.
The nerve which went out of here branches off while gathering together with other nerves.

 

The actual spinal cord?

The photograph below is the one taken by MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). It is watched from the above head like animation. The left side is the belly side, and the right side is the back side.
The part of the bone is reflected black. The white part is cerebrospinal fluid, and the one coming out in a circle in it is the spinal cord. It is hard to look and recognize the nerve which comes out of the spinal cord by the MRI.
